About Our Candidates


Timothy “Dan” Brown

Glassboro resident since 1976 and graduate of Glassboro High School, 1991.

Retired as Lieutenant from the Glassboro Police Department, where he served as D.A.R.E. instructor, teaching our children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Serves as Head Coach for the Glassboro High School Varsity Baseball Team and additionally volunteers as Head Coach for Glassboro Park and Recreation Basketball. Has coached many teams of all sports and age levels since 1991 and was named South Jersey Times Coach of the Year in 2019.

Tim “Dan” Brown is a strong community leader, who puts our families first. He is an advocate for community policing and believes that Glassboro should be the safest and most wholesome place to live, work and play.

He resides with his wife, Lisa and two sons, Nick and Ryan, as well as their furry family members - dogs Brad and Guinness and cats Carlos and Randall.

 

Deanna Davis Garlic

Glassboro resident for over 31 years.

Served on the Glassboro Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) for eight years.

Practices as a business and organizational coach and is the Executive Director and Publisher of Stay Focused Magazine, a faith-based non-profit that works to support individuals and small businesses in economic development.

Served as Executive Director of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland Counties and is trained in child advocacy and welfare. Also worked for over 10 years with Parent Anonymous of NJ and is trained in child abuse prevention, parent support and parent leadership.

Deanna is determined to have a seat at the table to represent Glassboro families and their children in making decisions regarding the growth and development of Glassboro and the region, also promoting the growth of small business and the attraction of new business and industry.

Resides in Glassboro with her Mother, Joyce, her husband, US Army Veteran Edwin Garlic, Jr. and their daughter, Diana.

the facts on taxes

The Borough has kept tax rates steady while delivering top-rate services, programs, and community events for Glassboro residents. In fact, in the last six years, taxes only went up by one percent, which equates on average to just $25 per year per family and was held at a flat rate in 2022. It’s clear that the money is going a long way and provides direct benefits back to residents and families. From road improvement projects to Rowan Boulevard to expanded community services, your hard-earned tax dollars are coming back over and over again as you enjoy and benefit from all that Glassboro has to offer.

  • During the past 12 years, our overall crime rate decreased by more than 30%

  • Improving safety on High Street and installing multiple state-of-the-art crosswalks, improved signage, and traffic calming devices

  • Improving email and web communications about weather, traffic, criminal activities, and more

  • Continuing partnerships between Rowan and Glassboro Police and Fire Departments to share services and officers

  • In response to COVID-19, Mayor and Council developed the BoroBucks program which doubled residents spending power and delivered $107,000 dollars in immediate stimulus to Glassboro businesses hard hit by the pandemic.

  • Median household income increased by 14% from 2009 to 2012

  • Nearly $100 million in tax credits and funding to local businesses to grow and expand operations in Glassboro

  • Supporting local businesses by encouraging residents to shop locally with Shop Glassboro Card program

  • Brand new town homes at High Street Estates

  • Harmony Gardens Senior/Disabled Housing slated to open May 2023

  • 26-acre Rowan Boulevard project with $400M in commercial investments

  • 2018-2019 more than 80 companies started, moved, or made expansions in Glassboro boosting the local economy by more than $48 million annually

  • Increased parking by more than 3,000 spots through several new garages as part of the Rowan Blvd project

  • Installing a brand-new turf field at South Delsea Drive Park obtained through a grant from Green Acres

  • Revitalizing parks and new playgrounds at Renlund Park, Looney Park, and Owens Field

  • During the past 10 years, our violent crime rate decreased by 55% and the non-violent crime rate decreased by 28%

  • Saving residents annually on their property tax bills with the Shop Glassboro Card

  • Maintaining and improving seven parks and sports field locations

  • Keeping steady tax rate for six consecutive years (2016-2022)
