About Our Candidates
George Cossabone, Sr.
George Cossabone, Sr. has served the Glassboro community for many years and has been a resident for nearly five decades. First elected to Borough Council during the early stages of Glassboro’s redevelopment, George brings deep institutional knowledge and a commitment to preserving the town’s character while embracing growth. He is the longtime Public Safety Committee Chair and has played an instrumental role in the expansion and modernization of both the Police and Fire Departments. George is also the originator of “Senior Day,” an initiative that proposes local business discounts and free parking downtown for senior citizens once a week.
George’s vision for Glassboro includes continuing downtown revitalization efforts while preserving historic landmarks like Angelo’s Diner. He believes in blending the old with the new to create an eclectic and walkable town center. As the oldest member of Council, George is a strong voice for seniors and advocates for amenities and policies that support aging in place. He is also focused on infrastructure, traffic relief, and ensuring that Rowan University’s growth aligns with the needs of the Borough and its residents.
George retired from a 30-year career as Water Superintendent for Monroe MUA. He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 51 years and raised their family in Glassboro. George takes pride in the community’s continued transformation and is committed to seeing redevelopment efforts through to completion. He supports smart development that invites business investment, maintains fiscal responsibility, and protects quality of life for residents of all ages.
George enjoys spending time with his family and is often seen engaging with residents at community events. He remains dedicated to making Glassboro a premier destination in Gloucester County—offering both an urban and suburban lifestyle, all within one vibrant town.
