About Our Candidates

Anna Miller

Anna Miller was elected to Glassboro Council in 2013. She was elected as Council President in 2023 and 2024 and is the first female to serve in that position. She is Chair of the Highway Committee and serves on the Public Safety and Water and Sewer Committees. She is also the liaison to Human Services and the Glassboro Housing Authority. In previous years, Anna served as Chair on the Parks & Recreation Committee and was integral in raising funds for programs through the annual golf tournament. Anna tirelessly promotes programs and activities for the Senior Community.

Her vision for Glassboro includes supporting small business growth and filling retail and office vacancies in all areas of town, including the Delsea Drive corridor as well as the downtown and Rowan Blvd. A lifelong Glassboro resident, Miller is a graduate of Glassboro High School. She holds an associate degree in business from Gloucester County College and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in healthcare administration. She works for BAYADA Hospice. 

Anna is a member of various sports halls of fame, including Glassboro High School and Gloucester County. She has been a volunteer for the Glassboro Park and Recreation track and field program for over 20 years. She is a member of the Glassboro Orchid Club, Gloucester County NAACP and a trustee and outreach member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Anna enjoys spending time with her family and has one granddaughter. She loves music and dancing and is often seen enjoying outdoor concerts and events.

Andrew Halter

Andrew Halter was first elected to borough council in 2018 where he serves as Chair of the Water and Sewer Committee and sits on the Finance and Public Safety Committees. He is a Commissioner of the Glassboro Housing Authority and is committed to providing safe and affordable housing opportunities in Glassboro for families and seniors. He is Co-Chair of Creative Glassboro, an arts and cultural advisory board for the borough.

Andrew is a lifelong resident of Glassboro, and a graduate of Glassboro High School. He studied Fire Science at Camden County College and is currently employed by Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management as Chief of HazMat. He has been a member of the Glassboro Fire Department for over 25 years. Andrew is a huge proponent for public safety and has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Gloucester County Hero Scholarship Fund for the past 20 years.

Andrew has always been very involved in the community and has served on several boards and commissions including the Glassboro Board of Health, Historic Preservation as Council Liaison, Greater Glassboro Group, and as a member of the Glassboro Board of Education. He is also the Council Liaison for the Board of Education.

His hobbies include backyard bee keeping with his young sons, going to the shore, and spending time at downtown events with his wife Laura and family.

The Big Issues


the facts on taxes

The Borough has kept tax rates steady while delivering top-rate services, programs, and community events for Glassboro residents. In fact, the municipal tax rate has only increased by 2.6%, which equates on average to just $50.65 per year per family. It’s clear the money is going a long way and provides direct benefits back to Glassboro residents and families. From road improvement projects to Downtown redevelopment to expanded community services, your hard-earned tax dollars are coming back over and over again as you enjoy and benefit from all that Glassboro has to offer.

  • Improving safety on High Street and installing multiple state-of-the-art crosswalks, improved signage, and traffic calming devices

  • Improving email and web communications about weather, traffic, criminal activities, and more

  • Continuing partnerships between Rowan University and Glassboro Police and Fire departments to share services and officers

  • Through a partnership with Rowan University we added four additional police officers and four firefighters

  • Working in conjunction with the county on an infrastructure project that will enhance safety in the downtown and the Delsea Drive corridor

 


Business

  • Approved 113 new businesses from 2021-2023

  • Approved 50 new businesses in 2023 (Chick-fil-A and Raising Cane’s coming soon!)

  • Zallie’s Shoprite invested 15 million in renovations for their Glassboro location

  • Liscio’s Bakery has expanded their manufacturing plant and will soon open a new retail location

  • Held quarterly meetings with business owners

  • Held first-ever Glassboro Restaurant Week and Town-Wide Yard Sale

  • Applied for and received over $1,000,000 in grant money for new senior buses

 

revitalization

  • Opened 301 new housing units from 2021-2023

  • Opened 116 new housing units in 2023

  • Completed townhomes at High Street Estates

  • Opened Harmony Gardens Senior/Disabled Housing in 2023

  • Scheduled to break ground on 78-unit development at Academy and High streets in 2024

  • Completed the renovation of the MLK Community Center and created a fresh, new place for residents to hold family functions and civic events


families

  • Installed a brand-new turf field at South Delsea Drive Park obtained through a grant from Green Acres

  • Opened Pickleball courts at New Street Park on June 4

  • Received a $70,000 grant for improvements to the East New Street Dog Park

  • Continued revitalization of parks and new playgrounds at Renlund Park, Looney Park, Owens Field, and the Little League complex

  • Continued residents’ saving annually on their property tax bills with the Shop Glassboro Card

  • Continued maintenance and improvement of seven parks and sports field locations


THINGS TO DO

  • Large-scale festivals and events annually, including Summer Fest, Craft Beer Festival, Cruise Night, St. Anthony’s Italian Heritage Festival, CommUNITY Day, Fall Festival, and Borough in Lights holiday celebration, plus dozens of local organization and partner events

  • Outdoor movie nights & free concerts

  • Programs and events at the Historic West Jersey Train Depot and Heritage Glass Museum

  • Theatre shows and musical performances in partnership with Rowan University
